A movement for change

I know sometimes the political process seems impossible, superficial, and worse. But we're trying to change that. We're building a campaign of the people, by the people, and for the people. Barack has supported the rights of the LGBT community through every step in his career, and he will continue fighting for equality as President.

So please take a moment to join me in building this movement for change.

From Russia with Love!

I'm enjoying the final few days of my Russian vacation and thought I'd share MY PHOTO ALBUM with you all.

My ten important rules to enjoying your time in Russia:
1) Don't apply logic to anything while in Russia
2) Parking on sidewalks is permitted and encouraged
3) To make a left turn at an intersection, you must first turn right
4) Don't look at the price of anything! A pot of tea costs $20, while a liter of vodka is only $2 and a pack of smokes is $1.50
5) Mixing vodka with ANYTHING is considered a waste
6) Absolutely no smiling
7) The pedestrian never has the right of way
8) Trying to understand the language is useless
9) Mullets and other things from the 80s are acceptable, and seemingly encouraged
10) Always remember Rule #1

Idiots: people that don't learn from mistakes

Taxpayer-funded software venture gets a bailout
-- Steve Brandt, Star Tribune
A taxpayer-financed convention software venture will get one more bailout but will be shut down if it doesn't repay by mid-year, the Meet Minneapolis board decided Wednesday.

Yes, I am 'on holiday' from the blog but this one slipped my radar last week, so thanks to the help of a tipster, I thought I would keep readers updated nonetheless.

It's like sticking your hand back in the pot of boiling water thinking, "gee THIS TIME it will be ice cold. I just know it will" ... Jesus, do some people never learn?! Shutter this f*&king company and be done with it ...

Someone should write a book entitled: "How I swindled nearly $10M from the City of Minneapolis." Hey Mister Mayor, would you like to donate a little cash to my internet startup?

Taking a brief blog hiatus ...

This is post #496, and before I reach the #500 milestone I need to take a slight pause in posting. The main reason is that I've got a few new freelance clients that require some quick turnarounds on a few projects ... hey, $$$ talks and I listen :)

So, hang with me as I take a small escape from the world of Blogs, MySpace and Facebook to concentrate on making a couple of bucks. This should in know way indicate that I am too busy to take on a few more freelance clients (communications/PR/writing), so continue to send leads my way.

Also, you should check out my new website at www.mediabuzznow.com ... I promise someday soon that I will launch MyGayMetro.com, but for the time being the freelance thing is gonna take some priority over that.

Miss you all -- we will talk/blog soon!

Le Sewer, Minnesota: "We stink too"

http://www.startribune.com/entertainment/music/14294361.html

Re: Rohan Preston's review of "Peer Gynt" at the Guthrie Theater

I liked your review as you saw many of the same problems I did and the Guthrie should certainly be held to task for staging this play in this manner. This was the worst theater experience in my life, at any level. On preview night, the Guthrie perhaps set a new low in Twin Cities professional theater when the Troll King had to read his lines from a sheaf of papers he was holding in his hand.

The sound was terrible. Many of the lines recited by the lead were inaudible or mumbled. The script was horrendous. Much of it seemed as if [play adapter Robert] Bly wanted to rewrite "Iron John." I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure the word "bitch" was not in Ibsen's original. Most of the actors did the best they could with the material written for them. Let's hope the Guthrie learns from this.

DOUG NELSON, LESUEUR, MINN.

Doug, you must be yet another moron who has no clue what a 'preview performance' is ... do you think that maybe, just MAYBE the program insert might have tipped you off that an understudy was playing the part of the Troll King that night? I'm not sure why stupid people like you got so fixated on him holding a few pages of lines. I was in that night and he hardly referenced them at all, and for the most part, it actually FIT into the framing of the show. Also, apparently you're not aware of our assisted listening devices and audio described performances if you cant hear the damn lines. Stupid people from Le 'Sewer' Minnesota. The name of your town sounds like a French word for gutter! Glass houses buddy!!

Buzz Boy on the airwaves ...

Apparently Buzz Boy (aka Jason Matheson) is getting his own radio show on fm107 airing Saturday nights from 7-10p. Mad props to the J-dog!

Looks like I need to call up Stanley Hubbard and see when I can get my own show! I love all of these young media types who have a bunch of hussles ... excepet Andrew Zimmern (the guy that eats bugs!) He spreads himself too thin ... but at least HE isn't on fm107 :-p

TG(ay)IF!

ps. my previously blogged about Sobriety Month ends next weekend, and has been a total failure! I was back on the bottle days after I vowed not to drink during January.
